Alden “JR” Colvin
Hometown: Reedsburg, Wis.
Expertise: CNC Milling
Currently an instructor at Madison Area Technical College, Alden “JR” Colvin is excited to begin training with Scott May in preparation for the WorldSkills competition in Kazan.
With more openings than skilled workers in the CNC job market, gaining visibility among students who might be interested in entering the field is critical. JR believes partnering with SkillsUSA and education facilities is an excellent way to raise awareness and increase opportunities for all stakeholders – not just in his own industry, but across the board.
JR hopes Scott walks away from the WorldSkills competition with an increased level of self-confidence and self-motivation, as well as a broader understanding of CNC milling. He believes the future holds a diversified and endless amount of professional opportunities for Scott post-competition.
As JR likes to say, “Your choices today determine your options tomorrow.”
