Representing the United States at WorldSkills in Plumbing and Heating

WorldSkills competitor Brady Kroll says the 2024 Plumbing and Heating competition will allow him the opportunity to learn new skills and discover different ways of doing various things. He is also looking forward to growing in his craft. Kroll represented the state of North Dakota at the SkillsUSA Championships and won a national silver medal in Plumbing in 2022. He is a student at North Dakota State College of Science with an expected graduation date of May 2024. His expert, Bob Hahn from Union, N.J., will train Kroll for the competition. Kroll credits his success in learning Plumbing to putting in many hours of school and on-the-job training. “I’ve worked hard to accumulate the tools and equipment that will support my work. My family has been a tremendous support with their encouragement and help and I have family members who also work in the trade. I have also had supervisors, teachers and mentors who have assisted me in improving my knowledge and taught me the soft skills such as customer service and connecting with others.”

Kroll says what he likes best about working in the trades is being hands-on and seeing something new every day. “When you are on a job site, you have to problem solve and think critically, so you’re frequently challenged.”

Kroll says, “Being chosen for the 2024 WorldSkills USA team means a lot to me because it recognizes the time and effort I have put into my career and how far I have come. I am grateful for the opportunity, not just to further improve my skills and understanding, but also to thank my mentors and supporters for all they have done to help me get to where I am.”
