James Redd is excited to start training Dylan Wertz in preparation for the WorldSkills competition next year. He hopes Dylan walks away from WorldSkills knowing there is a constant need to gain knowledge and face new challenges. James believes the WorldSkills competition will show competitors that hard work and dedication really does pay off, and competing will be a lifelong source of pride.
James says that he doesn’t believe there is a shortage in skilled laborers, just not enough patience or mentoring of novice tradesmen. He believes the veteran laborer must have the ability, patience and mentoring skills to allow the novice to learn and develop into a skilled worker.
James hopes competitors will always be open to new ideas and advice from peers and mentors who have insight into the industry.
“We don’t all become experts overnight!”
