Representing the United States at WorldSkills in Welding

I am currently attending Utah State University Eastern in Price, Utah earning two Associates Degrees. I started welding sophomore year of high school and was Provo High School’s individual welding competitor for three years placing 4th in 2019. I chose to come to USUE due to its outstanding reputation not only in competition but also from its alumni in industry.

I was able to secure my spot as USU Eastern’s Welding competitor in the spring of 2021 and have been training ever since. I took gold for Utah and went to nationals where I took 11th place. A month or so later I was invited to compete in the U.S. Weld Trials. My training regimen consisted of around 80 hours every week (on top of school).

Despite the rigorous training schedule sometimes I could find time to go shooting, four-wheeling in desert or even bonfires with friends. Through the months of training I reached the top six and flew out to Alabama with my fellow competitors to train and learn with the AWS Welding Committee for a week. After another few months of training back in our home states, we returned to compete against each other where I achieved second place.
