Hometown: Freeland, Mich.
Expertise: Baking

Julie Ivan is a culinary instructor for the Saginaw Public School System in Michigan. She has also been a bakery expert for the WorldSkills USA team since 2015 and believes the WorldSkills competition instills the ability to work in a diverse world, interacting with people from other countries and forming an “everlasting” network to their profession.

To reinforce the value of creating a path for the future, Julie brings former students back into her classes as mentors. One of them, who went on to study at the Culinary Institute of America, now works as an executive chef.

Julie’s expertise has been recognized globally, as she will serve as the WorldSkills competition’s Chief Expert in baking. In this role, she is responsible for planning and managing the technical aspects of the competition.
